Short Description: Japanese-inspired cafe with tea, small bites, and espresso.
Long Description: The Behind The Museum Cafe clearly takes pride in its interior design. The walls are lined with art on all sides, from scrolls to furniture to ceramics. The space creates a calm, near-perfect atmosphere that is good for focusing on whatever task is at hand. I typically stop by this cafe for a cup of tea, but today I chose an espresso which, though a little burnt-tasting, was almost redeemed by how much I enjoy the cafe’s ambiance. Located across the street from the Portland Art Museum, the cafe is a perfect place for a pick-me-up to combat museum fatigue. Though some people may choose to work on projects or meet with colleagues here, I think the space is better for quiet reflection, reading, or shared intimate moments with friends and loved ones.
